About Apple & Pip
Our Founder
I’m Claire Shomade, a BACP-registered integrative counsellor specialising in work with children, young people, and families. I started Apple & Pip to support the emotional wellbeing of children, adolescents, and their families. Based in London, I am here to help parents navigate the complex journey of raising children with compassion and confidence.
Before training as a therapist, I spent many years in a completely different career — and it was my time volunteering with young people, through organisations like Prince's Trust, Action for Children, and You Make It, that made it clear this was the work I wanted to do. I trained in integrative psychotherapy and hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy.
I am also a parent, and I know from personal experience how demanding — and sometimes bewildering — it can be. That experience shapes how I work: without judgement, and with genuine warmth for the families I see.
I currently work with children and young people in both private practice, with Mind and within a Westminster local authority associated programme. For parents and carers I also also carry out reflective parenting sessions and run parent support workshops.
